Environment

During construction of this new hotel we wanted to ensure we were taking the environment into every building decision and that has resulted in a greener, more environmentally friendly hotel. Heating the rooms with Geo Thermal heat and investing in energy efficient appliances has helped us to decrease our carbon footprint. And, while you stay with us yours will decrease as well. Here, at the BEST WESTERN PLUS Kamloops Hotel you can enjoy a pool with no harmful chemicals, you have the option of reusing your towels and as we are located on all major transit routes, getting around without your vehicle is very easy.

Green Key Hotel:

		We are proud to be recognized as a 4 Green Key by Canada’s premier hotel eco-rating program for our energy and environmentally friendly hotel. The 4 Green Keys rating is a hotel that has shown national industry leadership and commitment to
protecting the environment through wide ranging policies and practices. Mature programs that involve management, employees, guests, and the public have shown substantial and measurable results.

Waste Management

With a target of reducing landfill waste, we have implemented comprehensive recycling programs for a variety of waste materials such as newspaper, cardboard and recyclable products in addition to donating used soaps and other assistances to local shelters and charities. There is a recycle bin in each guest room so you too can assist us in our efforts.

Energy Conservation

The hotel is well equipped with numerous power-saving efficiencies to ensure all lighting conserves energy whereever possible while still maintaining appealing lighting for the guests. Compact fluorescent and LED lights are used exclusively throughout all our guest rooms. All rooms also utilize motion sensors which reduce the heat when rooms are unoccupied or when guests are absent.

Purchasing

We've established stringent policies for the purchase of, and conversion to, environmentally friendly products. These policies include the elimination of hazardous chemicals and synthetic perfumes, the use of unbleached Kraft and recycled papers and the replacement of aerosol products with ozone-friendly alternatives.

Water Conservation

All guest rooms have water efficient shower heads, tap aerators and low flow toilets to reduce water waste. Optional towel and sheet exchange programs are also available, offering our valued guests the opportunity to also help our environment by conserving enormous amounts of water, energy and detergents.

Geothermal Technology

We have also incorporated the very latest in Geothermal Technology (you drove over it in our parking lot) to heat all of our public areas, hot water and, of course, the pool. This change alone will enable us to reduce our carbon foot print, compared to a standard heating system, by over 35%!
